Scruff’s Top 5

This weekend I was blessed to play an impromptu show at a local venue in Lake Okoboji, IA. The crowd was awesome, very receptive to the tunes that I had played, it’s always a challenge knowing what to play when you have to go off of reading the crowd. Even though playing this past Saturday night was one of the highlights of my weekend, I have to take the time to recognize what this Holiday weekend is really about. I have to remember that it’s not about a barbecue, or drinking, or getting a day off from work. This holiday is there to remind us not to take our freedoms for granted. I have to take time to remember my family members that have served our country and have returned home, and know that there are so many that didn’t make it. I have to remember the husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, grandparents and friends that gave the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that I can write this blog, and praise them for all their hard work and service. This is one holiday that I feel is very important to everyone. I get wrapped up in my own life that I tend to forget where this country has been, and where it is headed. I thank all of my military branches for keeping my family and friends safe. Happy Memorial Day, may we never forget those who have sacrificed it all for the great of men, women, and children around the world.
